This breed is rather difficult to keep for a novice owner. Active people who would like a pet to accompany them in sports will actually find these dogs very lazy. These dogs cannot be left alone for a long time; some of them enjoy being in the center of attention, while others can be described as couch potatoes. Lack of knowledge on the breed and purchasing a pet on impulse are the main reasons for surrendering purebred dogs of this breed to rescues. It’s possible to adopt a high quality adult dog that is already socialized and trained, if you prove you are able to care for it.

Bulldog Club -
dogs, rescue
After the prohibition of bull baiting in 1835, the breed fell out of use, but a group of enthusiasts collected efforts to retrieve the dog. They worked hard towards developing a kind-hearted pet and eradication of its viciousness, and they have done the job with great success. The breed originated from old Mastiff-type dogs, which were crossbred with other species. Old species were designated for butcher purposes, and they were used in bloody bull baiting competitions. Today, they are lovely and affectionate family companions. At any bulldog club you can find an address of purebred dogs rescue.
