Bulldogs have compact and sturdy bodies, and they are good for apartment life. They are sensitive to temperature changes, and they cannot tolerate overheating. Their coat does not require too much grooming, but the wrinkles of the muzzle should be cleaned regularly. English Bulldogs are gentle and sweet, and any excessive aggression or viciousness must be penalized. From their fathers that took part in bull baiting, these dogs have inherited blocky heads, heavy bones and upturned lower jaw. This form of the head provided considerable protection against blows and kicks.

This breed is a good example of animals created by man that cannot keep themselves fit. It’s the duty of the owner to train and exercise the dog regularly and keep it in a good form. Exercise needs of these dogs are rather low, but a short daily walk is a must. Some representatives of the breed are very lively and playful, but most of them can be described as couch potatoes and should be forced to go for a walk. If left alone, such dogs would become overweight, which is very dangerous for their health. Bulldogs don’t need much grooming, but have special care needs.
